This gown is meant to make the wearer look as though they have rolled right out of bed and waltzed right into a fairytale.
Styled with a slept-in make up look and worn over boxer shorts.
The project compares our public theatrics to our private fantasies, those in which we can indulge once we have shed our performance for others. Inspiration came from the integration of home and work during the pandemic, which, for many, brought the public into the private and vice-versa.
The design process started with the discovery of the thrifted bedsheets and, as always, a rough sketch. The train utilizes the original hem from the top sheet and the rouching of the sleeves translates directly from the corners of the fitted one.
